What is it about?
As the sophistication, reliability and validity of the final surgical examination increases, so to does the need for formal training of the examiners. All examiners must be familiar with standard setting, blueprinting for scope and cognitive level, validity, concepts of bias, and use of clearly defined marking points: this entails extensive training and preparation prior to conducting the exams themselves.
