What is it about?
While implementing a multi-disciplinary rural IBD clinic, we discovered patients showed low reporting of psychological distress, and low uptake of psychological services, even though these patients were more likely to report greater disease activity.

Why is it important?
The interaction of disease states and personality variables, suggests a need to develop a sensitive range of assessment and treatment options for rural IBD patients. This has implications for developing IBD clinics.
Perspectives
It was a pleasure to work on this project with my co-author and in collaboration with my IBD colleagues, which I hope will lead to related studies of psychosomatic interest.
