Perspectives

This is a creative ethnography piece. I used my data from my qualitative research in an inner city high school in Brooklyn, New York to create these three teacher vignettes. I chose these three instances from my data collection because they highlighted the immense challenge of diversifying curriculum development and that text selection is not enough. Texts must be accompanied by critical literacy practices, and, if they're not, any text (not matter author or content) can serve to reinforce racist and homophobic ideas, as demonstrated here.
