What is it about?

Internship training for dietetic students incorporates nutrition care process (NCP) in patient case management. Academic faculty from Malaysian and United States universities shared a project to enhance student learning outcomes in clinical competencies through incorporating NCP into the dietetics curriculum in the Malaysian university. This study found that the application of an NCP-based evaluation tool successfully tracked interns’ clinical competencies at external supervised practice sites.

Perspectives

I enjoyed working on this project conceived with my colleague Tonia from Wayne State University, Detroit. We have shared visits between our faculties and this idea was born simply because we hypothesized adopting NCP into dietetics practice requires change management right from teaching to the practice area.
