Why is it important?

This article shows the difficulties skilled migrants face in finding work after migration, and tells the stories of a group of recent arrivals.

Perspectives

This work is important, as it highlights a social issue around the employment of skilled migrants and the difficulties they endure. Lack of employment affects migrants socially and economically. We recognise that there are certain cultural differences that can make it harder for migrants to access employment, and there is a need to address these issues. We also draw out the disadvantage skilled migrant women face when seeking employment, compared to men, due to the management of children and family.
