What is it about?

Observational clinical research studies are warranted to provide meaningful insights in cost-effective management of reproductive disorders, including obstetric complications in women of diverse ethnicities. My article highlights the strengths and limitations involved in overall quality of life among women in Bangladesh following ileal conduit urinary diversion operations for irreparable vesicovaginal fistula and bladder exstrophy; pyschosocial distress, stigma, etc, should be addressed aptly with patient-friendly clinical interventions and counseling sessions making women involved in clinical research aware of the adverse effects associated with innovative surgical operations so as to eventually enhance adherence to stringent treatment modalities post-ileal conduit urinary diversion operations thereby increasing overall patient satisfaction rates.

Why is it important?

Ethnicity is am important predictor of differential susceptibility to lifestyle-related morbidities and mortalities, including reproductive/urologic malignancies and subsequent surgical outcomes in diverse patient population subsets. My article has strong public health research impact with future opportunities for women-centric research.

Perspectives

As an established investigator in the urology/women's health and reproductive immunology/fertility research areas with global recognition in the competitive biomedical sciences/life sciences and biotechnology research arenas, I strongly feel that my article certainly adds to the growing knowledge-pool in women's health research and bioethics, in general. Future large-sample size based multicentric observational, prospective and longitudinal studies are warranted to effectively address the public health burden of reproductive/urologic disorders/malignancies worldwide.
