What is it about?
The brainwriting method was used to generate an overview of abilities and skills i.e. competencies expected of a crisis manager. Using a mind map three basic groups of competencies were developed - managerial, social and functional. The participants used Saaty´s pairwise comparison method to determine the significance of individual competencies and assign them with a degree (scale 1 – 4). Then competency levels were defined (scale 1 – 5). This way we established different attributes of individual competencies according to the level of their development. Finally all individual competencies were assigned a target value between 1-5 which indicates the expected level of competence for the position of a crisis manager.

The model of competencies is a practical tool for the establishment of crisis management system in a company.
Perspectives
In terms of management, and especially crisis management, small businesses and micro businesses in particular, face a number of problems that large enterprises do not have. Small enterprises are usually undercapitalized . Lack of resources concerns not only financial resources but also the necessary experts. Managers are overloaded with operational problems. They do not have the support for making strategic decisions nor have time for self-development etc. From this perspective, the further presented model will be beneficial especially for those businesses.
