What is it about?

This paper is about the 2009 election in Iceland which was an early election following the global credit crunch in 2008 and an economic crash Iceland. The paper explains and establishes that this election was a critical election in Iceland, in which a restructuring of the determinants of the vote occurred - followed by indicators of a realignment in the 2013 election.

This paper is an important contribution both for Icelandic political science as well as political science in general. In the paper it is explained and analyzed how events such as the global credit crunch and a financial crash of country, impacts voting behavior and politics in the long-term.
