What is it about?

In this study, a group of online education teachers were surveyed to identify specific benefits of online instruction for students with special educational needs. Research was conducted and multiple known beneifts were revealed. Teachers then confirmed or denied if they were seeing these benefits in their own personal online classrooms.

Why is it important?

When I first began this study, I noticed that there were not many sources directly related to this topic. With the daily growth associated with online education and blended options for students, there seems to be a need for more data on the benefits and shortcomings of this form of education. I am hoping this study will help contribute to this area of research.

Perspectives

As an online educator for the past four years, I have personally seen many benefits of online instruction for both traditional and non-traditional students. Many of these benefits are already built into Online Learning Management Systems; however, it still takes dedicated teachers and staff members to be able to evaluate, decipher, and implement this data in positive ways for each student.
