Why is it important?
The article is important because it fills the lacuna of lacking appropriate theological response to the Needham Question, and also engages in theology-science-religion trialogue.
Perspectives
Joseph Needham asked an important question through his famous Needham Question: why China didn't foster modern science in the 16th to the 17th centuries even though it ranks among the scientifically and technologically advanced nations in the previous centuries. To me, failure to respond to this question theologically reflects a theology-science divide which has been prevalent among the Chinese science community and the Chinese theologians.
