Factors associated with leptospirosis in domestic dogs: meta-analyses

What is it about?

Leptospirosis is an important zoonotic disease of worldwide distribution. We performed meta-analyses to find factors associated with leptospirosis in dogs that coincide in different epidemiological studies worldwide and we combine their results to obtain a pooled measure of the risk.

Why is it important?

Leptospirosis is present in canine populations and is a frequent diagnosis in canine clinical practice. The disease have a zoonotic potential, posing a risk for dog owners. For these reasons, is important to know and undestrand risk factors for the disease in the animals. We found that there are risk factors that coincide in different epidemiologic studies.
