Why is it important?

Routine vaccinations are the most painful interventions in childhood.The development and management of vaccines are considered as important achievements of public health care in the 20th century. Vaccines have prevented hundreds of millionsdiseasesandmillionsofdeaths. Althoughtheyhavemany proven benefits, vaccine injections-related pain can create concern and distress (Schechter et al., 2007). Failure to manage this pain can cause anxiety, incompliance and fear about immunizationsinthefuture.Inaddition,suffering,painandfear experienced in childhood can lead to fear and avoidance of medical care in adulthood.
