What is it about?
Eucalypt plantations can be used as nurses for forest restauration; but, in the Humid Chaco of Argentina, fire is uncontrolled. So, we ask if this plantations could be used in this escenario. We planted saplings of different species, and registered they survival and growth for one year in forests, grasslands and eucalypt plantations. Then, grasslands and plantations experieces fires with low sapling survival. In this context, eucalypt plantations could only be used in forest restoration if fire management is controlled.

Why is it important?
We provide a framework for designing and assessing restoration interventions in this somehow neglected ecosystem. We also create a Google Earth Engine code to evaluate burn severity that could be used in other sites.
