What is it about?
The use or microorganisms in aquaculture has greatly evolved, during the last years, they have been used as probiotics and inclusively as food source for fish and crustacean, and as an excellent tool to control the water quality.

Why is it important?
To advance towards a more sustainable aquaculture, it is absolutely necessary to improve the utilization of aquafeeds, the water use and diminish the pollution of lakes, rivers and coastal zone. The microbial based systems are friendly with the environment.
Perspectives
The microbial based systems to culture fishes and crustaceans, could be a solution to supply high quality food to the future generations.
