What is it about?
Psychiatry clinics differ from other clinics in terms of therapeutic environment. This situation causes anxiety in patients hospitalized to psychiatry clinics for the first time. In addition, people diagnosed with psychiatric disorders may experience a perception of stigma due to seeking psychological help. In order to reduce this stigma perception and anxiety level of the patients, we used existing technology and applied a video or photography‐assisted adaptation program.

Why is it important?
Our article deals with the anxiety and social stigma perceptions of patients hospitalized to the psychiatry clinic for the first-time. We have integrated the existing technology into the patient admission process practices of psychiatric nurses and facilitated the adaptation process of the patients we care for. Our findings strengthen psychiatric nursing interventions. It is thought that it is a useful adaptation program that can be easily applied by psychiatric nurses in the patient admission process and that technology is used.
