What is it about?

It addresses the main cardiological alterations of patients submitted to pediatric hepatic transplants in a single center. This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of children with cardiovascular disease (CVD) who underwent LT and to compare the pre-transplant findings during cardiovascular evaluation with long-term (>1 year) cardiac reassessments. This retrospective study evaluated 518 primary LT recipients.

Why is it important?

First study with a large number of patients evaluating the outcome of patients with and without heart diseases submitted to liver transplantation.

Perspectives

I hope this article can improve the care of patients with heart disease who will undergo liver transplantation, since there is often fear due to the association of diseases. Our results showed that it is safe to transplant these patients.
