What is it about?

The areca palm (Areca catechu) is a monoecious plant with male and female flowers growing separately on the same inflorescence. We obtained a chromosome-level areca reference genome and revealed that the epigenetic regulation in JA-related pathways is responsible for the sex determination. In addition, we also found a conserved sex-related region in Palmae plants via comparative genomic analysis.
