What is it about?

In recent years, unique phenomenon of methane release from tree trunks has attracted a great deal of attention as a potential impact for atmospheric methane. However the mechanisms responsible for stem methane emission have not clearly been understood. This paper for the first time generated evidence that provides insights into the mechanisms of methane emissions from the stem surface of A. japonica which is one of the major wetland trees.
