What is it about?
Sugars and the strigolactones have antagonistic effects on plant shoot branching. The molecular mechanism underlying this antagonistic interaction remains elusive. Here we show that sucrose, the main long-distance transported sugar in plant, regulate molecular components of strigolactone signalling to inhibit the response to this hormone and promote shoot branching.
