What is it about?
Canopy architecture is a major determinant of canopy photosynthesis and hence crop yield potential. Here we develop a high throughput method to evaluate canopy architecture in terms of its impact on canopy photosynthetic rate. We show that the canopy occupation volume (COV) is linearly related to canopy photosynthesis and hence it is an indicator of canopy photosynthesis.
