The great biodiversity of plants in tropical mountain forests have always intrigued researchers, and competition for scarce soil nutrients have always thought to play a role. We show here using a vegetation model that nutrient limitation has a strong effect in both plant community trait composition and productivity, and that mycorrhizal fungi play a significant role
