Aphid feeding induces the relaxation of epigenetic control and the associated regulation of the defense response in Arabidopsis

What is it about?

In the last decades we have achieved a great understanding of genetic data that influences how plants respond to stress situations. Nevertheless, several studies point to an epigenetic component in the stress response that allows plant genomes to respond dynamically and fast to a changing environment. In our work we have explored this epigenetic component in the response to aphid feeding. Our study indicates that several loci respond epigenetically to this stress and might be connected to the transcriptional response.
