What is it about?
Flowering at proper time is critical for high yield in rice. In this review, we summarize the up to date knowledge on how rice recognizes and responses to proper daylength to initiate flowering. The expansion of rice cultivation areas from low-latitude to high-latitude regions by selection of several key flowering time genes is also discussed. Based on these knowledges, we proposed strategies in breeding adapted cultivars by rational design.
