What is it about?

SAUR26 and its related genes are critical for generating thermo-response variations of growth architecture in natural accessions of Arabidopsis thaliana. Here we show that polymorphisms in the SAUR26 gene are responsible for gene expression variations leading to thermo-response diversity. These polymorphisms affect SAUR26's transcriptional activation by core thermo-response regulators as well as its intrinsic mRNA stability. The contribution of cis-element polymorphism to gene expression diversity is likely a general mechanism for natural adaptation.
