What is it about?

Crops are generally cultivated under high natural illumination, and light microenvironments inside canopy may be very dynamic. The rapid induction and relaxation of Energy-dependent quenching (qE) is very important for plant fitness and sustainable yield. The PsbS protein is essential for the rapid induction of NPQ. We showed that the coordination of OsbZIP72 and OsMYBS2 with reverse roles regulates the transcription of OsPsbS1 in rice. This study provides the first investigation into the transcriptional regulation of PsbS in plant species to date.
