What is it about?
This synthesis of individual phytoplankton responses reveals a universal response pattern of all phytoplankton to seawater carbon dioxide concentrations (CO2) that can be described in a simple empirical model. This provides a new conceptual framework to illustrate how species-specific CO2 sensitivities can be used to project community shifts between key phytoplankton groups under ocean acidification.
