Phylogenetic signals and predictability in plant–soil feedbacks

What is it about?

The degree to which plant species are related is thought to help predict the outcome of plant-soil feedbacks (interactions between plants and soil microbiota). However, attempts to link relatedness with feedback outcomes have produced mixed results. We show that feedback outcomes are predictable when species are closely related, but largely unpredictable when they are distantly related.
