What is it about?

The basal land plant Marchantia polymorpha develops clonal progenies, gemmae, in the receptacles, gemma cups, and thereby efficiently propagates asexually. We review the recent progresses in our understanding of the molecular mechanisms which controls these developmental processes and identifies commonalities with the regulation of quite dissimilar processes in angiosperms.
