What is it about?
Masting, boom and bust seed production of plants, is important because it drives animal populations and affects how the regeneration of forests. There are many hypotheses that predict which plant species produce mast seed crops. Using a global database of long-term seed production in plants, we found that traits related to some of those hypotheses were associated with plant species with boom and bust seed production.
