Genetic and functional variation across regional and local scales is associated with climate in a foundational prairie grass

What is it about?

We found that within-species diversity in an important dominant grassland species emerges from site level genetic differences, and is related to climate. This suggests different geographic ability to adapt and proposes a mechanism for how different shortgrass prairie ecosystems respond to climate change.
