What is it about?
Forests are increasingly affected by hot drought extremes. A continued rise in atmospheric carbondioxide concentrations will further increase the intensity and severity of extreme events, but we know little how increasing levels of carbondioxide affect tree stress physiology. Our study provides novel evidence along these lines and questions beneficial effects of elevated carbondioxide concentrations on tree stress performance.
