What is it about?
Woody roots were more responsive than herbaceous roots to precipitation increase, while herbaceous roots were more responsive to precipitation reduction, and the responsiveness declined with increasing ambient precipitation. These results suggest that the two types of plants may adopt different rooting strategies in response to the predicted precipitation changes under future climate change scenarios.
