What is it about?
Models of plant respiration remain poorly developed, especially in woody tissues (stems and roots) where respiration rates are difficult to quantify. TReSpire is a new model that integrates water and carbon fluxes within the stem. It describes stem growth and respiratory costs associated to tree functioning, as well as the movement of respired CO2 within tree stems. TReSpire has potential to advance our understanding on stem growth dynamics, CO2 fluxes and underlying respiratory physiology across different species and phenological stages
