What is it about?

In some polycarpic plants fruit inhibit flowering, so that a season of heavy crop is followed by one of no flowering and no fruit production, and vice versa, a phenomenon known as alternate bearing. Here we describe this process under the epigenetic point of view, and how axillary meristem and its newly emerging shoots undergo genetic reprogramming allowing the bloom the following season.
