What is it about?

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNA) have been shown to play crucial roles in the transcriptional regulation of eukaryote. But their functions in plants are relatively unexplored. We show that ELF18-INDUCED LONG NONCODING RNA 1 (ELENA1), ELENA1, binds to mediator subunits and regulates their interaction. Consequently, ELENA1 functions as a positive regulator of immune responsive gene expression. We find further regulatory mechanism of plant defense-related genes by lncRNA.
