What is it about?
Herbaria are windows to the past, as they contain plants collected through the last centuries until today. These collections allow us to study how plants react to- and cope with changes in their environment. In this review, we describe how herbaria can be used to better understand the consequences of global change, inform conservation measures as well as long-term predictions, and we advocate for their intensified use as 'witnesses' of global change.
