What is it about?
Devastation of the major cereal crop, wheat, by the pathogenic fungus Fusarium graminearum relies on the spread of the fungus within a wheat head. We, for the first time, provide a metabolomics-based insight into major biochemical rearrangements during infection and report on mycotoxin-related susceptibility factors that may aid resistance breeding approaches to successfully prevent future epidemics.
