What is it about?
HDZ are key transcription factors in plants and participate in a wide range of developmental and adaptation processes. Their origin was not still clear. New transcriptomic sequencing experiments from algae are very useful to understand their precise origin. Here we present new findings in their evolutionary history, focusing particularly during the transition of plants from water to land.

Why is it important?
We found for first time HD-Zip with all structural features in chlorophytes (green algae) and in early charophytes (closer lineage to land plants). We also describe when each domain in the family appeared and other details in phylogeny not well explored yet in early land plants and charophytes algae.
Perspectives
Writing this article was a really important process for my formations, many learnings on the way. Now that we know with more detail phylogenetic relationship, we can characterize in the future members of other species, like in early land plants and streptophytes.
