What is it about?
The powdery mildew fungus causes disease on wheat, reducing yields worldwide. We study a protein from the fungus that is recognized by the wheat immune system, initiating defense responses and stopping the spread of the disease. We show how changes to this protein alter recognition by the wheat immune system.
