Are litter decomposition and fire linked through plant species traits?

What is it about?

The surface litter layer can be decomposed or go up in fire and slow decomposition builds up fuel for a potential fire. We investigate whether this and other connections between decomposition and fire, important for carbon cycling, can be understood via the properties of the litter produced by different plant species.
