What is it about?
Vernalisation requirement, that is an agriculturally important trait that postpones the development of cold-sensitive floral organs until the spring, has arisen independently in several individual plant lineages. We show that an altered regulation of a key floral repressor TFL1 causes an extreme vernalisation requirement and changes the growth cycle in an arctic accession of the woodland strawberry.
