What is it about?

This study presents a detailed overview of the pathology of a devastating necrotrophic fungus, Ascochyta rabiei that infects all the aerial parts of chickpea and causes Ascochyta Blight disease.

Why is it important?

Ascochyta rabiei is a major fungal constrain of chickpea, as it causes the Ascochyta blight of chickpea. During conducive environmental conditions, the pathogen results in 100% crop loss. Thus, it's important to understand the pathogen biology to devise strategies to combat this pathogen.

Perspectives

This publication brings scientific attention to this pathogen and encourages researchers to develop strategies to prevent the plant from fungal infections.
