What is it about?

RNA-binding protein Hfq is essential for small regulatory RNA (sRNA)-mediated regulation in gammaproteobacteria, and is involved in multiple biological processes. We show that Hfq represses the expression of LEE, which is a pathogenicity island in enterohemorrhagic E. coli, by inhibiting the translation of two LEE activator genes in an sRNA-independent manner.
