Riboswitch control of bacterial RNA stability

What is it about?

Long known to regulate translation initiation or transcription termination, riboswitches can also control gene expression by shortening or prolonging bacterial RNA lifetimes. Their influence on rates of RNA degradation can occur by any of a variety of mechanisms and often accompanies riboswitch-mediated regulation by another, independent means.
