What is it about?
In the multicellular cyanobacterium Anabaena sp. PCC 7120, sites of cell-cell connection (termed septal junctions) are linked to the cell division apparatus (termed divisome). Here, we show that SepI, a divisome-associated protein specific to multicellular and heterocystous cyanobacteria plays an important role in septal junction localization and function.
