What is it about?

We examined the role of trust as a key input to a group’s collective belief about their ability to perform their job (group efficacy). We found that having trust is critical to enhancing a group’s confidence in their abilities, and, in turn, higher group confidence led to better team performance.

Why is it important?

Groups often believe confidence is the key to success. While that may be true, less often do employees and managers think about what it takes to enhance a group’s confidence. This study fills this gap by testing the role of group trust as a contributing factor to group efficacy.
