What is it about?
Gas-entrained solid particle erosion of ultra-high-temperature is studied at various temperatures. Interestingly, plastic behavior in the ceramic at high-temperature reduces the erosive material loss. The addition of ZrO2 provides a multi-fold enhancement in erosion resistance.

Why is it important?
Hot erosion occurs in high-speed aerospace vehicle components. It is vital towards to understand the material loss characteristics towards ensuring flight safety and develop erosion-resistant materials. In this work, attempts are made to understand the high-temperature erosion of NbB2-based ceramics.
