Dermatological journals available to Latin American dermatologists

What is it about?

We assess and compare the number of dermatological journals found and currently available to dermatologists on Latin American databases and compare them with journals indexed in MEDLINE/PubMed.

Why is it important?

We found that free access for readers is the greatest strength of Latin American journals, but language, last online publication, issues per year, academic publishing, and pricing policy are their main limitations.

This article present the limitations of dermatological journals available to Latin American (LA) dermatologist and propose a way to address the transition of LA dermatological journals to an international level of prestige, visibility, and accessibility.
