Why is it important?

This paper represents the first record of the invasive species D. suzukii in Algeria, listed on the EPPO A2 list of pests recommended for regulation (EPPO, 2022).

Perspectives

Additional research, including more extensive surveys, will be required to determine the occurrence of D. suzukii in fruit production throughout Algeria. It is necessary to study the potential trophic niche of D. suzukii in the orchards of El Kharza to consider an effective control strategy against this pest.
