What is it about?

This study investigates the pattern in which changes in the brain progress in patients with epilepsy. Patients are assigned a stage number corresponding to the progression pattern. The stage number is determined by the extent of brain regions affected in the individual patients.

Why is it important?

Staging patients according to the extent of brain regions affected allows us to measure for example, how far in the brain the spread of cortical thining has occured. This staging assignment would allows us to differentiate treatment response across patients.
